TROUT: GOOD: Action has picked up significantly for boaters on the troll. Lots of action on Cuttbows and Browns 15 to 24 inches. Lots of baits working. J11 and J9 BT Rapala, Pink Needlefish #2 and #1, CDY Kastmaster 3/8, Green Rainbow Cowbells/Crawler, Tasmanian Devils with pink, Thomas Bouyant G and a host of other things hopefully in your tackle box. Stop and pop some tube jigs in 20 feet of water or less. Buggers and Leach patterns on the fly rod working the coves. Fish being landed through out the lake. Pick your favorite spot and get to catching. Stop in for the up to the minute updates.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: These experienced Kokanee in the pic above reported action out from the Marian and East by Deer Island. If it is calm the fish are usually found deeper up to 45. As soon as it gets windy they are moving up in to10 feet or less below the surface. Generally you electronic won’t even see them. Pink Needlefish. Also try Mack’s Wedding Rings and Kokanee Kustoms on lead core with about a 15 foot leader. Most success with baits trailing a Dodger.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Action on the West End is good with Stoll to Cross Creek seeing some nice fish. Trolling big Sticks like the F18 Rapala Pike Pattern in particular have seen success. Look to late morning through early afternoon as a good time for the bite.

SPECIAL NOTE: 11 Mile Marina is located at the North Shore in Eleven Mile State Park, Lake George Colorado. A CPW Park Pass is required on all vehicles entering the Park. Any fees for Guide/Outfitter/Rental services do not include Park fees, CO fishing license or gratuities.

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

PIC # 3: Shore action for this young angler brought a big Pike. A few truck bed liner imprints for effect. Caught on a nightcrawler.

PIC # 4: The Tasmanian Devil not often copied and never duplicated. This unique spoon has been a mainstay here at the Mile, Spinney and Antero for years. We have a very good selection with emphasis on Pink colors but lots of other productive patterns. In addition we have packs of back up beads, or the wire hooks in both 7 and 13 gram both single and treble hook. We really like the single hook. Come check them out.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: Shore action still good boat action picking up. Those on shore using Power Bait, Nightcrawlers and spawn sacs finding success. Those pitching Kastmaster, Thomas Buoyant and popping tubes doing well. Black Wooly Bugger and Black Leach have performed nicely. Boaters having a mixed bag with trollers finding luck with lead core and Pink, Arnies Dynamac, Jointed Rapala and Tas Devils in Pink on them. Bite times vary look to sunrise, midmorning, early afternoon and sundown.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR: Boat inspectors report one boat that came through the other day with four big Kokanee. Other than that we have not seen any but those were a good sign and caught straight out from the Marina in 60 feet of water only 10 feet down. Pink Needlefish. Also try Mack’s Wedding Rings and Kokanee Kustoms on lead core with about a 15 foot leader.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR: Action is picking up in the shallows on the West end and around the lake in general. Troll the shallows with the F18 Pike Pattern Rapala if you are really serious. They had cancelled that pattern a few years ago but brought it back last year. A little hard to find but we currently have some in stock. People having Pike experiences from shore meaning seeing and losing some decent fish with a few anglers scoring like in the pic above.

PIC #1: WOW some one knows how to catch Eleven Mile Kokanee

PIC #2: Taylor sports one heck of a nice salmon. He caught 8 on the East end. Some were only 10 feet down and others as deep as 45 feet. He used a Dodger with a secrete bait that looked a lot like a Kokanee Kustoms which we just got in. Tyler Elwell of Woodland Park is the maker of those baits and made a few exclusively for us. Come on in and check them out

PIC # 3: The action from shore is hot particularly at Sunrise and Sunset as the big spawning fish are doing their thing and that seems to be peaking right now. Boaters are finding action to be slower than they would like but the shore anglers are smiling. One boater reported good action on the Tasmanian Devil Black Betty size 13gram. As the water warms action will pick up for the boaters. Try Rapala’s and Tas on the troll, pitch tubes and jigs on the drift. Timing and depth are critical.

PIC # 4: Gothic Pink Squid one of six exclusive patterns from Kokanee Kustoms. Won’t find those at Scheels. Come check them out.

PIC # 5: Two really nice ones also caught from shore. The nice Brown was caught on a nightcrawler.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: Kastmasters and Rapala’s are showing off what they can do so far in this early season. Shore and boat have both produced when using them. Green Rainbow pop gear with night crawler on three foot leader shines in the Spring. Super slow troll, the slower the better. Fly action good close to shore using anything in black. Bait anglers liking the garlic flavored or salmon peach power baits. And night crawler and mallow always seems to catch a big one. Action found all around the lake.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR TO GOOD: Taylor knows what he is doing and tried many regular spots but only found schools on the East end off the channel from Deer Island to the buoy line. Some were suspended deep others were close to the surface. Use a Dodger and Macks or Kokanee Kustoms tipped with shoe peg corn or Gulp Alive Maggots. Stop in for latest updates

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO POOR: A few smaller fish here and there. Look to better action as the water warms. Pitch or troll big sticks and spoons. Windy conditions help as the water gets cloudy in the shallows and they don’t see quite as well but hit just a s good as anytime.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Dry in general here. Park County fire ban Stage One. You CAN have a campfire in State Park designated fire pits. No fires in forest areas. Next couple days of weather should help. Water turned on in Park May 1. Showers and flush toilets open May 1. Campsites on the North side of lake are open now. South side open May 1. Snow in the forecast Friday/Sat, Sunny Easter Sunday.

Opening boating day saw about 30 boats. Catching was a mixed bag. It was pretty nice with calm conditions early but the cold water made for fair action. In typical Eleven Mile fashion for early season shore angling produces nice fish. Boaters do OK but things will pick up as the water warms. When we get to 48-54 degrees you will see a big difference.

PIC # 3: Featured hot lure of the week. One thing is for sure there were a lot of fish caught on Kastmasters at Spinney and Eleven Mile this past week. The two fish in the Pics and reliable sources say the potential new State Record Cuttbow 20.3lbs landed opening day at Spinney were all caught on the Kastmaster. We have a famously great selection. Fire Tiger has always been one of our favorites. Jig, Cast or Troll your chances are always improved when used.

Many anglers set a bait rig and pitch another with lure while keeping a sharp eye. If you like catching big fish and who doesn’t now is the time to go. Dress for all conditions. ICE OFF: There may be some ice here and there in coves but for the most part it’s gone. Open water fishing all around the Lake.

OPEN FOR BOATING: Eleven Mile will open to boating April 15 one half hour before sunrise. Hand carry currently allowed. Canoes, Kayaks, Float Tubes, Paddle Boards. Water is very cold. Wind conditions vary and can come up swiftly and powerful. Stay close to shoreline areas if you go out. Avoid becoming a statistic. Even with PFD you don’t want to be in the water.

TROUT: GOOD: The lake is waiting on you and so are the ice off big Trout. Lots of action around the reservoir in general. All the baits are working at some point in time through out the day. Sundown always good. Fly and a Bubble on a spinning rod works well this time of year. Use at least a three foot leader off a clear water filled bubble and reel very very slowly or just let it sit. Power Baits in orange and Rainbow working well garlic doesn’t hurt. Woolly Buggers, egg and leach patterns on the fly. Tubes and marabous on the jig. Jointed Rapala J9 and 11 great this time of year and of course the Kastmaster. We have seen Chrome/Blue and GNR work well. Work a spot or walk the shore but definitely time to wet a line. Lots of fish being caught from stockers to lunkers 20 inches and up. Stop in for the latest updates on the hot baits.

ICE OFF TROPHY SEASON: For the seasoned Eleven Mile angler it’s always about the “season”. Who doesn’t love Spring and Fall. When the ice recedes trophy fish are caught close to shore. That time is now for the next few weeks. This is not fair weather fishing. Rocky Mountain Spring brings rapidly changing conditions. Wind is frequent and the water is cold so being around the shoreline means dress appropriately.

RESERVATIONS FOR WATERCRAFT RENTAL FOR 2025 SEASON NOW OPEN: Click BOOK NOW box for 2025 summer season Pontoon and boat rentals currently available at 2024 rates through March 31. Rates will be going up effective April 1. Current rate Pontoon $325.00/4hr will be increasing during high season June 15 to August 15 to $395.00. Early and late season rentals will be increased to $375.00. Lund WC-16 was $179.00/half day effective April 1 $229.00. No one likes increasing rates. We don’t have a choice. Increases in labor, insurance and the cost of replacing boats have all gone way up. The increased cost of replacement is very very significant. If you have priced new boats lately it’s insane. We purchased a new Pontoon 2 1/2 yrs ago at $28, 500.00. We purchased another new one (same model) December 2023 at $42,500.00 and were told the mfg was raising price by 10% effective January 1, 2024. Afraid to even look at 2025 models. Rates subject to change. Reserve now and save!

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Significant open water from the middle of the lake to points East and West. Typically it starts to melt on the West end and spreads East. This year a pressure ridge out toward Goose Island from North Shore exploded and water began spreading like wild fire in windy conditions. There is still lots of ice from Stoll Mtn to Cross Creek but going fast with most shoreline areas melting off. Lots of ice from Coyote Ridge to buoy line East. May be some ice fishing still left if you are so inclined but lots of shore opportunities. Hand carry boats, canoes, kayaks, Float Tubes allowed.

LAKE OPEN TO BOATING: The soonest they would open the lake to boating is April 15. Seems likely the way things are going. SPINNEY still mostly ice some melting starting

EAGLE VIEWING SEASON: If you come up make sure to bring a pair of binocs. The Bald and Golden Eagles come in mass to fish off the ice near open water. A great spot to look is from Rocky Flats out toward the rocky outcroppings near Goose Island or out from Rocking Chair to Goose island.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: Warm and windy Spring conditions. Lake won’t be long for ice fishing. There are spots still around the lake where you can get on/off to ice running 8 to 11 inches. This weekend may be the last hurrah for hardwater anglers. There is more shoreline effected everyday. There are some areas where shore fishing is possible. You don’t need much water to catch a big fish. Early on early off is a good ice fishing approach this time of year. Cold morning temps get the shoreline firm. Many areas of open water can skim over with ice overnight and may not clear until late morning or early afternoon. Extreme caution advised.

ELEVEN MILE STATE PARK IS IN THE SOUTH PARK NATIONAL HERITAGE AREA

PIC #1: We saw more Browns weighed in then ever. At least 6 nice ones. They have not stocked Browns in Eleven Mile since the 80’s so that is a great sign. The one thing many Browns had in common was caught on a Kastmaster. The GNR and SNS pattern were the hot ones. You can get SNS here but good luck finding it somewhere else. It is a Big Rock Sports exclusive and they don’t sell to Cabela’s, Bass Pro, Scheels or Sportsmen’s Warehouse. One was caught on a Sierra Slammer.

TROUT: GOOD: Although some teams would prefer not to fish at North Shore and go to their favorite spots contest action proved there are plenty of nice fish caught here. The Browns were the most surprising of the day with lots of Cuttbows just under five pounds. Waterdogs caught the biggest Pike and one of the biggest Trout. We do have some water dogs left but will not be getting anymore until next Winter.

KOKANEE SALMON: FAIR: Contest day saw some teams fishing out in salmon territory hoping for big Trout. They saw a lot of salmon and some were biting. One weighed in was close to 3 pounds. The schools were thick and active. Pimples, Kastmasters and a few on crappie jigs.

NORTHERN PIKE:FAIR TO GOOD: Only one nice one just over 11 pounds landed. But many anglers reported seeing large fish and lots of them. This may be your last weekend on the ice to get a big one. They certainly been chomping on the dogs.

CONDITIONS REPORT CONTEST UPDATE: ICE THICKNESS running 10 to 15 inches in most places. Shoreline areas around the lake are seeing problems here and there with water appearing in some spots. Contest will be held at the north Shore Marina as planned. Most shoreline areas at the Marina are effected by Spring conditions and cannot be used for access. The main boat ramp is solid for access to ice that is thick and firm. Tonight and tomorrow bring significantly colder conditions which will firm things up. Access is also no problem at the eastern end of the marina cove. The little boat cove is questionable. Final instructions will be given at check in. Early check in is available tomorrow. Regular check in begins at 5:00AM 5:00AM!! not 4:00am as it was in previous contests. All fishing to be done in North Shore area. UPDATES POSTED AS CONDITIONS CHANGE. This weekend should be decent ice around the lake with some access issues. Season may not last much longer but we don’t see this weekend being a problem. Open water from river inlet to Cross Creek areas. Caution highly advised. Be aware of weak shoreline ice. Fresh snow expected Friday which will increase the caution you should take.

USED EQUIPMENT: Usually we sell off our rental like new ice augers each year along with shelters and some Vexilars. Because Strike Master is discontinuing their 40V Lithium ice auger and we don’t know what is coming out next year and because we like them so much we will not be selling off any. Same goes for shelters. We use Shappell DX3000 which have also been discontinued and we like them enough to keep them.

MARINA MARCH MADNESS: MARCH 8 The finale of the Colorado Classic. All fishing done at the North Shore area. A very large area. For CC participants there are hundreds of points to be won so don’t be discouraged if you don’t have any yet. In the past we have seen teams go from zero points to winning the final grand prize. It’s Madness!!! If you are not a CC participant this event is just plain FUN!!. Thousands of dollars in PRIZES Last contest saw 84 Teams signed up for al three events this has now increased to 94 teams of which all are eligible to win the Toyota Tacoma. TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: A mixed bag with stockers and a few 18 to 20 inchers. Bigger fish in spawn mode shallow water. A single Pautzke Salmon egg on a #10 or smaller Salmon Egg hook laying on the bottom. The last week saw a later bite with action not picking up until 11 and lasting through the afternoon. Finally got in some Sierra Slammers that we have been out of…the Pig Tail (pink & white) and in glo. Wonder bread and a few more hot ones that always seem to catch.

KOKANEE SALMON:POOR TO FAIR: They come through, hang around for a like a second and are gone. Just not seeing the numbers like a few weeks ago but everyday is different. Some decent action reported out in the middle from Rocking Chair. North Shore has been sporadic as well as Duck and Deer Island. We put in the time this week but were not rewarded.

NORTHERN PIKE:FAIR TO GOOD: 8 to 10 feet of water still seems to be the sweet spot. Water dogs still seem to be their favorite but finding the bite time of the day is the trick. Finding the fish has not been the issue. Patience and presentation are the key. Big white tubes with a piece of sucker meat brings them in but boy they sure do like to look more than they like to eat sometimes. Stop in we will point out some spots on the map you might want to try.

CONDITIONS UPDATE: 03.04.25 Windy today for the first time in a while. Open water growing on west end approaching Cross Creek. Lots of accessible ice all around the lake some shoreline areas are showing water on edges. North Shore Marina access is only at the boat ramps. Ice is still 10 to 15 inches in most places. The contest will be held without a doubt. The decision on North Shore location depends on the next 48 hours. Colder temps on the way. Next update on Thursday Weekly Fishing Report.

CONDITIONS REPORT: ICE THICKNESS running 12 to 16 inches in most places. We are not aware of any fishable open water. Cross Creek will more than likely be first and there is some water appearing where the river comes in. We are ice fishing as late season is generally very productive. We are seeing shoreline issues here and there. The North Shore here at the Marina is bad along the rip rap rock shoreline as the sun heats the rocks. Ice access is currently no issue at the small boat cove and main boat ramp. Around the lake most shoreline areas remain pretty solid particularly Witchers Cove and Coyote Ridge. Remember last year when we thought it was over in early March and then Winter came back with a vengeance until May. It’s still too early to know where we will be at for the contest. But the contest will be held as long as there is access around the lake. In years past we have had this issue from time to time and adjust accordingly. Some years we allowed fishing anywhere because the North Shore was not accessible. Looking at the weather forecast it sees some warm this weekend and another cold trend early next week. It was a much cooler day yesterday. As far as this weekend is concerned you should have no issues accessing the ice. As always caution is advised. We were out yesterday and had great fun on solid ice.

There are not tons of ice guides out there but there are some and most offer trips in the 6 to 8 hour range since they have to travel to get here and need to make it worth their wild. Most of our Winter clients are first timers or still learning with a few making us an annual trip and some looking to learn more about Eleven Mile. TIME TO GO HARDWATER ANGLING

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON!!! Last week saw some really warm and windy conditions. Water started appearing at North Shore behind the Marina and from the boat dock to the skate rink was mostly open water for about 10 feet. This week saw a mostly unpredicted snow storm with almost one new foot of snow here ar the lake. We also saw some very nice cold temps with -20 showing it’s face this morning. All of the water refroze with some snow covering. If we can get a few more days of cold temps we should be fine for March Madness contest. Next week calls for warmer temps but time will tell. For now all systems go for contest at North Shore. If there is safe access somewhere along the shoreline the ice is still 15 plus inches almost 20 in spots. Caution advised anywhere you go.

TROUT: GOOD: Action remains consistent. Dead stick small jigs seem to be the most productive. We are still seeing many big Trout in deeper water. The hike with fresh snow is a bit difficult. It should get easier as the days pass.

KOKANEE SALMON:FAIR TO GOOD: Usually you can catch a couple but if you are at the right place at the right time limits can be had. Blue/Silver 3/8 Kastmaster was hot this past week. Use big spoons get it down fast when fish are in. 25 to 45 feet seems to be the dept they like in 60 feet of water. They are moving around for sure.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON!!! Its been very warm since Monday. Luckily the wind was almost non existent Monday and Tuesday and a little breezy Wednesday and Thursday. Ice has held up well but there has been a lot of snow melting around and on the lake. No problems here although caution is always advised. Best to stay clear of rocks that may get warm and soften surrounding ice. Colder temperatures are on the way and ice conditions remain stable and good

ICE THICKNESS: 16” plus. Still crusty snow on the lake some glare ice spots appearing mostly on shoreline areas.

TROUT: GOOD: Action has picked up significantly. We are seeing nice fish very shallow as some are moving into spawn mode and very deep but just below the ice for whatever reason but there they are just a few feet below the surface. A variety of baits are working with tube jigs, Krystal Lazers, smaller spoons being productive. As usual everyday is different with some days being very hot followed by very cold but clearly an improvement over the last few weeks.

KOKANEE SALMON: GOOD: Talk about hot and cold bites you are talking Kokanee. Some days they are off the charts biting what seems to be almost anything followed by no I don’t want that, or that , or that. Many fish suspended 30 to 45 feet. Fish have been caught at the three main locations of Deer, Duck and Deer Islands with what is a long hike. Trout always seem to be there if you get bored waiting for the salmon. Park Rangers report contact with some anglers that fished all night and reported hot salmon action between Midnight and 4:00AM. That night fishing thing on the ice is not for most and I’ll settle on a daytime trip. Stop in for the latest report on hot baits.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: If the salmon pic above proves one thing it’s big Trout are in deep water. They are suspended just below the ice. Most anglers fishing shallow water just aren’t seeing fish at all or few and far between. Fish 18” to 23” are common in the deep. If you don’t see them, moving a little bit is appropriate. Nightcrawlers are seeing decent action both in shallow and out deep for bigger fish. Also a micro jig like Tiny Tot with half of meal/wax worm or Gulp Alive Maggot and tube jigs in a variety of sizes. Many anglers making the hike have been rewarded. Most of the fish are just a few feet below the ice. If you do fish shallow probably 3 or 4 feet is where it’s at. We have been working out from Marina in 55 feet of water looking for salmon but seeing the Trout a plenty. If you think you have hiked far enough keep hiking until you are even with Spinney Mtn.

KOKANEE SALMON:FAIR TO GOOD: Looks like we are starting to see a salmon bite that we haven’t seen in awhile. Decent size fish being landed by more and more anglers. Salmon catching is not any easy game. First there is the hike, then you need to be on and over fish. Last time we went out, there were fish under us for about an hour and 30 feet away the folks there saw absolutely nothing. We use jigging machines with at least two strands of Luhr Jensen Green Rainbow Cowbells as an attractant. Some folks come in and talk about youtubers using a dodger with a three foot leader. We’ll stick with our jigging machine. We like using scent products on our baits for kokanee. There are some better than others, stop in for details. Those that make a hobby out of eating and catching Kokanee will attest to how finicky these fish can be. But when you hit a limit you surely lost as many so it is a rush of catching adrenalin. To be sure they have been hitting better than just a few weeks ago.

It will still be sub zero early morning but it has been warming up quickly. We are talking ice fishing and the ice is getting thicker. Think he is at least a member of the three timers club. The key to his success is time on the ice. He puts in the hours with determination. TROUT: FAIR: North Shore Marina still seeing stocker action with occasional big fish being landed. Other areas that you might be use to have seen fewer fish and even fewer interested fish. Going small has been productive. Tiny Tots with half a meal worm or waxworm have done pretty good. Dead stick seems to be the best when using small micro jigs. Soft plastics like Sierra Slammers, tube jigs and paddle tail jigs have produced. The bigger tubes and paddle tails have not scared the bigger fish away. Bigger fish seen and caught in deeper water just below the ice. When we say deeper we are not talking about 25 feet we are talking more like 40 to 60 with the first 5 feet being where they are. It’s a hike but that’s where they are. Out from Rocking Chair in 40 feet, North Shore 40 to 60, Duck island 40 to 70 and Deer Island to Bouy line 60 to 80 feet just below the ice. That’s not to say you won’t see fish in shallow water but we have heard form frustrated anglers not doing well in their same old spots. You can’t fish the same spot all the time, with the same bait and expect the same results as early ice. We are into a real Winter now and it takes slightly more effort to locate the big ones.

KOKANEE SALMON:FAIR: There is still action out in the deep. No one has seen the production that the repeat pic shows but that does not mean its not possible. Most that have tried are coming away with 1 to 3 fish and stories about the ones that got away, so that is still encouraging. Swedish Pimples have done particularly well. The #5PFO and #3PFO are our favorites but it seems any Pimple will do pretty good as long as it has orange on it. We have an “Orange Ice” one that also does well tipped with the Gulp Maggot. You have to know the drill they often hit on the drop and it’s difficult for many to know when and how to set the hook. Takes practice. Plenty of Trout out there while your practicing. If you don’t have a jigging machine which is not a piece of equipment readily available at any stores make one. Come on in and we will show you ours. Very simple very effective…you can do it! We have tried over the years to sell ones made by others but generally they don’t produce enough to meet demand and then they quite. They do make a difference and dramatically increase your chances.

ICE SKATING RINK: NOW OPEN

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON!!! They say its gong to get cold but it’s been cold here for weeks with an occasional mild day. Roads are clear with some snow packed and icy spots. Saturday contest day saw a super mild 27 degrees at check in (4:00AM). The day before was -27 and the day after was -22 in the early morning hours. When it’s that cold it might warm up to the low teens during the day. Weather reports have been inaccurate for here. It snows when it isn’t predicted and doesn’t when predicted. Basically Rocky Mountain winter weather. The cold like we have seen at the lake which is at the end of the South Park high altitude flats is rarely accurately predicted with temps in downtown Lake George at least 20 degrees warmer than the Mile. It was 30 degrees warmer in Divide this morning.

ICE THICKNESS: Ice generally looking to be 10” to 16” in most parts.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: The catching was a mixed bagged for the contest with the biggest Trout being 5.49lbs. Any Trout over 5 pounds is a big fish in our book and there were a few in that range weighed in. Lots of fish in the 17 and 18 inch category. Lots of stockers in the North Shore area but they are spreading out. They do draw in big fish to say the least and it’s a numbers game. Catch a bunch of little ones and then pop the trophy. Lots of baits are working. Sierra Slammers have done well or any crappie type or larger tube jig. Nightcrawlers and spawn sacks fished off the bottom have also done well. Shallow water is not always best but a good bet. Plenty of big fish in deeper water right below the ice.

SPAWN SACKS: In general these are productive baits at Eleven Mile for big fish. We sell a variety of Trout eggs that can legally be used. Colorado CPW regulations prohibit the use of spawn from a Trout or Salmon caught in the wild anywhere in Colorado. Because we cannot prove without a genetic test that someone mixed wild caught eggs with store bought we have made the use of sacks in general prohibited in the contests this year. You can still use a single salmon egg on small snell hook but no sacks of any kind. We do sell Pautzke Trout eggs that can be used in a sack anytime legally but not if you are in the contest. We do sell a Pautzke Spawn Sac Tyer. You can tie your own, a good investment or we do have some pre tied in a cup of three.

KOKANEE SALMON:FAIR: Although the contest saw limited fish weighed in other days before and after the contest have seen some folk get it on. For those trekking to Deer Island you will find smaller fish. For those trekking to Duck Island you’ll find minimal if any fish. For those trekking North Shore from the Marina you will find a variety of sizes with bigger ones to be had. Swedish Pimple, Kastmasters, Thomas Bouyants tipped with a Flamingo Maggot, Meal or Wax worm. A little stink on the worm never hurts. Look to 15 to 40 feet. We all use jigging machines with your choice of pop gear. We like Green Rainbow.

NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD: You wouldn’t know it by the fish weighed in at the contest but action has been pretty steady and good. A fish that weighed 0.45oz won money. It looks like the bait of choice is waterdogs as numerous anglers have returned after buying one or two only to have them robbed by a Pike. Shallow water of 8 to 10 feet seems to be the preferred depth no matter where you go. Stop in for the latest info.

PIC # 4: NOT EXCLUSIVE: Scanned this jar of Power Bait for a sale and this is what came up. It use to be called “Captain America” then they changed to Red, White and Blue. Now its unisex adult with glitter LOL Thought I would bring this to their attention at the Pure Fishing space in Nashville where they have a large exhibit and they laughed me off. Hmmm. PIC # 5: I landed this lunker last weekend just past the wave break behind the marina! We were using small tube jigs tipped with the flamingo maggots. We hooked in to quite a few perch, but also landed a nice 17 inch brown and a 15 inch rainbow. This guy might be the smallest fish I have ever hooked through the ice. TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: Action has picked up quite a bit. Still slow in some parts but good in others. There may be a lot of stockers at North Shore but a fair number of large fish have been caught here of late. Tube jigs, Kastmasters, Krystal Lazers. Many different baits have been working stop in for latest info. Look to Howbert Point, Corral Cove and Rocking Chair as good spots.

NEW ITEMS IN STORE: A couple of new items in the store this week that we like: Kenders Tungsten jigs/Waxie We have a few different patterns and so far so good. Tungsten is dense and more sensitive then other metals. Feel lighter bites and get down to the fish quickly. Some with glow patterns. check them out. A Power Bait product that has been around but suggested to us by a few anglers, Egg Cluster. Just put them on a hook and fish them off the bottom like a spawn sack. These may be used in the tournament.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR: Marking fish but not catching is the order of the day. Some minor improvement out toward Duck Island. The bigger ones are by themselves and can pop up almost anywhere like North Shore or Duck Island, the smaller ones are stacked up on the East End and hit every so often. Look to spoons like Swedish Pimples, Kastmasters and Krocodiles. Always tip with something. We bring everything to the hook seeing what the bait du jour may be. When you make the hike you want to have everything with you. And a hike it is.

NORTHERN PIKE: GOOD TO VERY GOOD: The dogs are doing it with some really nice fish being landed. Most have been in water 8 to 10 feet deep. We like right on the edge of the weed beds Rocky Flats to Stoll and Lazy Boy to Cross Creek. Seeing plenty at North Shore also. Tip ups have been productive and the bigger dogs seem a little more productive then the smaller ones. Suckers have also been helpful with just the right size.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON!!! No new snow. There is still a snow crust layer on the ice but not very deep. Cleats are advisable for traction. Roads are clear with some icy spots. Some warm weather has been followed by some new colder temps with a -16 yesterday. That should firm up the ice.

ICE THICKNESS: Ice generally looking to be 6” to 12” in most parts.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: The last week saw a number of frustrated anglers as the Trout were few and far between. That happens from time to time and the only cure is keeping at it. Fish are very spot specific of late and you certainly can feel frustrated when you are seeing nothing and a shelter 40 feet away can’t keep them off the hook. Pinks have been a productive color although many different baits are working. Try to flash them in with a Kastmaster or Krocodile. Work them vigorously from top to bottom. A dead stick with a Krystal Lazer just below the ice will surprise when you aren’t ready. We also like tubes of all sizes. Stink them up.

ICE SKATING RINK: We have been maintaining an ice skating rink (with hockey nets) for the last few years and intend to have one this year again. Ice conditions have been such that CPW has not allowed us to get equipment on the ice to plow an area yet. Soon we hope call 719-748-0317 for updates.

CURRENT CONDITIONS: ICE ON!!! Some mild days. Snow still covering the lake although there really has been no new snow accept for a dusting last night. Most roads are clear and dry some icy spots in the shade. Park reports it will open additional electrical sites on January 1, 2025. Call Park Office for details 719-748-3401

ICE THICKNESS: Ice is generally looking to be 6” to 10” in most parts. It has been warm of late during the day with less harsh cold conditions at night. Mass has not grown significantly in the last week. Some shoreline areas are thinner. The snow from two weeks ago has remained on the lake in most areas.

PARKING LOTS: With ice fishing season moving into full swing and the popularity of the sport in Colorado on a steady growth pattern, Saturdays here at the Park are seeing large crowds. Not that Saturdays aren’t always busy but Park Rangers have reported that Parking Lots at Cross Creek, Suckers Cove, Witchers Cove and Stoll Mountain are getting maxed out with no place to park. For now the problem is mainly Saturdays but this week is traditionally a busy holiday week through New Years so be advised there can be a parking issue.

TECH WOES: We are very happy with all the people who regularly follow our website and FREE weekly fishing report. The only such report in Colorado for a specific body of water. A few of them are having technical difficulty accessing the report and are quick to blame our side of the tech fence. Must be our site host, doesn’t service mobile devices, we are getting ripped off by our host. OR maybe its on their side. Not that we don’t want to fix a problem but so far we can’t locate a problem. Our URL host has been Network Solutions for 25 years. According to our website analytics which is hosted by Square (I’m just sure they are trying to rip us off lol) we are pushing 20K visits this month. Some have reported issues but not a large number. The one thing they all have in common are they are Apple I Phone users. No such problem has been reported by Samsung or any other device users. There is no problem with laptop or tablet connections. Out here in South Park we usually try the turn it off turn it on solution before we jump to conclusions. Lets us know if you have problems or continued issues. report to elevenmile@hotmail.com.

TROUT: FAIR TO GOOD: Action will not always be fish in a barrel hot and heavy Cross Creek early ice action. Bite has cooled a little although plenty of good action if you find and see the fish. Moving is always an option particularly when the ice isn’t too thick and the snow too deep. Areas in 8 to 20 feet of water seem to be consistent. Stocker action at North Shore continues but even they can be tricky sometimes. Lots of different baits working. Small crappie jigs like Sierra Slamers, Kastmasters, Krocodiles, tube jigs, Lazers and Tots. We tip everything with apiece of something like meal or wax worms, Gulp Maggots or even piece of nightcrawler. Stop in for the latest update.

KOKANEE SALMON: POOR: Initial reports are groups of fish appearing on electronics but hard to entice. Mass quantities and large schools appearing on screens at the East End of the lake at many different depths. Some have tried, a few have seen minimal action. We heard Korey W. caught three small ones 12 inches or less even though he told some people he got skunked. It’s possible he was tipping with Flamingo Gulp maggots. Hmmm.

NORTHERN PIKE: FAIR TO GOOD: Action has picked up with larger fish getting aggressive. Waterdogs have enticed but don’t think it’s easy to catch the big ones. Patience is a virtue as they may stare at your bait for a very long time before attacking. And if you miss your flag and can’t get there in time its good bye big fish. 8 feet of water has been a good depth.
